safeTALK is a half-day training developed and regulated by LivingWorks Education that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t truly want to die, but are struggling with pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive. safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources.

safeTALK Suicide Alertness Training (3-1/2 hours)

Registration deadline: Thursday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. (earlier if all 30 seats fill)

Registration fee: $69.00 per person (HST applicable)



CANCELLATION POLICY: By proceeding with registration, you are indicating your acknowledgement and agreement to the Cancellation Policy outlined below and understand that no exceptions to the policy will be made for any reason.

  • Notice given 10+ days prior to course – Full refund
  • Notice given 7- 9 days prior to course – 50% refund
  • Notice given less than 7 days prior to course start date/no advance notice given – NO REFUND

No exceptions are made to our cancellation policy for any reason. If you opt to cancel your seat the cancellation policy will be enforced as described, and should you choose to enrol in a future training session no credit or discount will apply to the registration rate for that session. In the unlikely event that the minimum required number of participants is not reached, the session will be postponed. You will be notified via email at least one week prior to the intended course start date, at which time you may choose to receive a refund or to apply the registration fee to a future course.


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: safeTALK is a certification-based course. In order to acquire certification, attendees must participate in the course's activities and group discussion, and must be present for the duration of the course. Participants who miss more than 15 minutes of course content for any reason cannot make up missed time and will not be eligible for certification. It is important that all participants are aware of this requirement, as no exceptions will be made. This is a quality assurance measure put in place by LivingWorks Education, who regulate the safeTALK program.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Who should take this training? 

safeTALK training is meant for everyone. Typically training groups are very diverse with some participants attending because of suicide's relevance to their professional roles and others attending for personal reasons. Anyone can learn how to save a life. No prior experience or training is necessary.

Where and when can I take this training? 

Arpeggio is proud to offer a variety of mental health education opportunities at regular intervals throughout the Atlantic region. Arrangements can also be made to offer a course specifically for your organization. If your workplace or community agency is interested in hosting a course, please contact for a quote.

Will I get a certificate after completing the training?

Yes, participants who attend the training in its entirety will be issued an official certificate at the conclusion of the session. Please review the certification requirements listed above in the course description.

What's included with my registration?

Registration for this 3-1/2 hour session includes a take-home safeTALK resource manual, "You can talk to me about suicide" stickers, safeTALK wallet card and an official certificate.
