Find a Training

March 18th 19th ASIST Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
ASIST 11 Workshop English - 2 Day

NHS MH Trainer Provider -I would like to invite you personally or your organisation to be part of a new mental health awareness training project within Torbay and South Devon.

Like traditional First Aid, ASIST ( Suicide First Aid)  and Mental Health First Aid do not teach people to treat or diagnose mental health or substance use conditions. Instead, it guides people to spot the symptoms of declining mental health and importance or crucial appropriate response especially in an emergency situation. To  have the confidence to ‘break the ice’, and offer initial help and guide a person towards safety and support. We all have Mental and Physical Health issues within our life span and we all experience one or both of these affecting how we feel, think and cope with our everyday life. This may be positive or negative for our general wellbeing.

This project aims to encourage people to attend Mental Health training courses to improve understanding of Mental Health and the factors that affect wellbeing.  This might be applicable to us, colleagues and employees within our workplace, families and friends, and our neighbourhood as a whole.

Mental Health Awareness helps address the importance of helping all of us to understand mental health.  It also helps us to recognise the importance not only of how to respond effectively to signs of poor mental health in others, but also of managing our own mental health and personal resilience/strength. It breaks down stigma and encourages us to be more willing to seek support in the initial stages when we first start finding things difficult.

This project will increase the knowledge of our own Trust staff and will also invite our local community such as leisure and sport groups, charitable and voluntary organisations and businesses to undertake the course. In fact anyone interested will be most welcome to attend.

Tiered costs- Please enquire link and email below.

Kind Regards

Jacqui
